4 faux paus you’re probably making when you wash your car

Using Dishwashing Soap.  If you’re constantly struggling with soap scum, take a closer look at the product you’re using!  Be done with Dawn and invest in soap meant for washing cars.

Using the Wrong Cloths. If it’s not microfiber, you’re doing it wrong.

Rolling Down Windows Before They’re Dry.  We’ve got two words for you: water spots.

Over-Washing Your Car.  Yes, there is such a thing.  If you care about preserving your paint job, don’t wash your vehicle obsessively.

Too Hot to Handle - Items You Should Remove from Your Car During the Summer

If you haven’t noticed yet, it’s summer time – temperatures are higher, the sun is out longer, and you’re probably packing all kinds of things in the car which shouldn’t be there once your car’s temperature rises. We’ve all experienced what a disaster melted chocolate can be. Your car’s temperature climbs fast once it’s parked and closed up – it can easily get to over 120 degrees. Here are a few items that shouldn’t still be in the car when it gets that hot.

  • Aerosol cans – they explode!
  • Prescription medications – heat can change their chemical composition.
  • Lighters – they also explode!
  • Electronic devices – heat zaps them faster than you think.
  • CDs and DVDs – they can be damaged or even melted.
  • Sunglasses – heat might warp the frames.
  • Water bottles – chemicals in the plastics used to make the bottle can leach into your water.
  • Crayons – if you’ve ever had to clean wax out of carpet, you’ll be shuddering at the thought of this right now.
  • Makeup, especially chapstick/lipstick – melts. Melts everywhere.
  • Soda cans – have you ever seen one explode? They get sticky soda everywhere.
  • Groceries – unless you’re really into spoiled food for some reason.
  • Chocolate/gum/gummy candy – melty mess!
